This project is a joint initiative of Buildings and Grounds, the Centre for Professional Development, Centre for Flexible Learning and the Library. The project forms the basis of a pilot to inform the development of an innovative teaching and learning space at Macquarie.
As part of Macquarie University's mission to use technology to enhance the teaching and learning process, Room C5C 209 has been set aside from the CAP process with the intention of redesigning it for innovative, small group (e) teaching.
To ensure the redesign of C5C 209 is effective in supporting innovative teaching, the fit-out needs to be driven by teaching and learning imperatives. The project will be carried out in two separate stages over 2006 and 2007. Stage 1 will include an initial pilot of the room during 2006. The feedback collected from this pilot will inform the development of Stage 2; a comprehensive fit-out of the room for Semester 1, 2007.
The project will include an evaluation of the impact on teaching and learning when delivered in the innovative teaching space. Findings as to the scalability of the project and implications for the development of other innovative teaching spaces will be included in the final report.
