Examples & tips

Here we are offering solutions to issues you might encounter when teaching online or designing online units and courses. There are presently four sections of content.

Structuring Content covers page layout, structuring navigation, using icons, and displaying online PowerPoint slides or overhead projector images.

Designing Activities has tips on using the Take Notes tool in WebCT, designing multiple-choice questions, creating web search activities, designing role playing sequences and effectively using Discussions.

Appropriate Media gives advice on effective use of images, sound, video, animation and PDF files in an online unit or course.

Technologies to Consider explores some new technologies and ways they can enhance online learning - Wimba Voice Tools, LAMS, blogs, wikki’s and podcasts.

We will continue to add information and resources to this section that can benefit online educators. There will be a section that will showcase innovative online units, where we will take you through the design process of an online unit, explaining the initial idea, the issues that were resolved, why decisions were made, and how it was evaluated.
