CFL can give advice on:

Educational needs analysis

The first stage in developing any educational initiative is to undertake a needs analysis which involves:

Instructional Design

CFL's educational developers can assist in developing learning strategies and content for various media - print, the Web, CD-ROM and video. Teaching and learning strategies that involve web use of exciting new online collaboration tools can be considered. You can receive assistance in structuring and organising material, designing navigation, introducing interactivity, and developing assessment tools.

Assistance in the appropriate use and design of the Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) e-learning tool is available.

Coordination of production

For projects using CFL's media production services, the educational developers are available to coordinate the production process.

Implementation

CFL has developed and operates the Macquarie University Online Teaching Facility, which provides a hosting and delivery mechanism for Internet-based teaching. Most functions are supported through WebCT, QuickCT and the MUOTF Staff Interface.

A program of training and support sessions has been developed to support the pedagogical, technical and administrative aspects of online teaching and learning. Customised programs can be developed for Divisions and Departments to cater for individual needs.

Evaluation

Monitoring and evaluation of new initiatives is essential throughout all stages of design, development and implementation. This should include the evaluation of learning outcomes, teaching processes, usability of resources, student preferences, student access, and the impact on physical and human resources.

CFL's Educational Developers can provide advice on evaluation methods and the support that is available through the Teaching Evaluation and Development Service (http://www.cpd.mq.edu.au/evaluation/) run by The Centre for Professional Development.

Who to contact

Your first point of contact is your Educational Developer (cfl-educ@mq.edu.au).
